What to Wear

What type of attire will I need to pack ?

Like most of the Caribbean, Sint Maarten is very casual. Most restaurants are open air, very few are air conditioned. Light clothing is perferable. Sun dresses and shorts are appropriate most everywhere. The sun in Sint Maarten is extremely hot year round. So be sure to pack sunscreen, a cover-up and a hat. Most beaches offer rental chairs and umbrellas and are a great place to people watch.

Getting around

Will I need a car?

Our villas are within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in Phillipsburg. However, to really explore the beauty and diversity of Sint Maarten, renting a car is advised. Our manager can arrange car rentals and all you need is a valid driver's license. In Sint Maarten they drive on the same side of the road as the U.S.

Currency

Do I need to exchange money before I go?

The official currency on the Dutch Side is the Dutch Gilder and on the French Side it is the Euro. The U.S. dollar is accepted everywhere and there is no need to convert to the foreign currency. There are modern banks with ATM machines for cash advances. Most restaurants and shops accept Visa, Master Card and some accept Discover, American Express and Diner's Club.

Beaches

What about the nude beaches?

The beaches on the French Side are mainly clothing optional. The beaches on the Dutch Side are not. If you are concerned, please ask the manager to direct you to an appropriate area.

Safety & Security

If you don't need it, don't bring it.

There is absolutely no need for expensive jewelry, watches, etc. in Sint Maarten. However, if you feel the need to bring these items with you, we offer in room safes to protect your valuables. There is no extra charge for this service.
